We weren’t into doing anything today. We both felt like we needed to be out of contact with the world, listen to audiobooks and do absolutely nothing.
We headed out to our brunch at 📍Black & White. We had pancakes and Karine left with a cinnamon bun to go. We dropped the pastry home and headed to the grocery store to grab water and fruits to sustain us until dinner time. We then setup home and did nothing other than listing to an audiobook. It was glorious. Vacations are meant to be enjoyed; we learned pretty early in our adventures that fear of missing out should not guide our vacation plans.
Dinner was at 📍A Petisqueira. For a restaurant on the busy tourist alley of Lagos it did well. One of the best piece of advice on Portugal that applies anywhere is to reserve your dinners. Missing out on good food is the worst. As we were waiting to be shown our table, the people just behind us in line walked to a waiter and asked how much money it would cost to be seated at the reserved empty table on the patio. He said, and I quote: “We both know that money is the real problem to getting us that table”. While I do not doubt that it might be that way in some establishments, the guile of just assuming that flashing cash would work everywhere was a little shocking. They didn’t get their table, we got ours, the dinner itself was good, especially when ranked against a typical tourist alley restaurant with 16:00 to 22:00 happy hour.
