Ever since we’ve started our vacation we’ve been travelling through our past destinations. Madrid back in 2009, Grenada in 2013, and Malaga in 2022.
We last came to 📍Malaga to escape winter a little bit and on the tail end of Karine’s business trip. We were here to work mostly, not so much to visit. We walked the older part of the city only once and visited none of its attractions. In this trip we’ll be stopping by the city twice and hopping to correct this gap in our Malaga experience over the couple of days we’ll be there.
This first stop We’re spending two nights in Malaga before hitting the road to visit the parts of Andalusia we haven’t visited before. A smidge under 48 hours, about twice as long than an Anthony Bourdain Layover (if you haven’t watched the show, please do), none the less we decided to use our first day to eat our way through Malaga with no reservations (two Bourdain references in a single sentence!). The truth of it is we felt like being lazy. When on vacation , the easiest thing to do when one feels lazy is to walk a little and eat a lot.

From around 15:30 until 22:00 we went between Bodega, Cafes, Restaurants and Gelaterias. While we could have done without the downsides of not having reservations and following our whims like waiting in line, we did have a great time. The Spanish really have something with that concept of tapas. We tried so many different foods! We drank so many different glasses of local wine (one of our rules while traveling: always try the local wine). By the next morning we were still dreaming of the sweetbreads with chimichurri we’ve had at 📍El Tapeo de Cervantes.
