Day 4: Prepping for the road trip

Today was spent doing laundry (how fun...) and picking up our car that will be our way of getting around for the next height days.

On day 4 we’ve learned:

  • Karine’s default answer to anything PL says that she didn’t understand or hear correctly is “I love you too”. It’s cute but entirely unhelpful when PL states he’s hungry.
  • Karine also guesses what people ask her as our waitresses inevitably find out when they come for drink orders and get a food order from Karine.
  • Driving on the left side of the road is not as bad as it would seem or disorientating. However placing the blinker lever on the left side of the wheel instead of the right creates lots of moments when the driver signals with his wipers. Something entirely unhelpful for everybody concerned (other motorists and the driver of the car). It is however amusing to the passenger.

Since the day was boring (and somewhat relaxing), there’s a limited crop of pictures. Enjoy pictures of our New Year’s feast (we’re 18 hours ahead). By the time you see this, we’ll be waving at you from 2018.

We had:

  • Lamb shoulder
  • Hopaku (Fish)
  • Pork Belly*

I’ve imported this log entry almost 8 years after our trip, and we still talk about the pork belly at Mekong Baby
