When we landed in Italy, the forecast for today called for intermittent rain. When we arrived in Moterosso, the weather forecast called for heavy rain in the afternoon. Finally, this morning the weather called for cloudy conditions. By the time we had finished breakfast (some of you may call it lunch as it was 13:30) it was raining. It shows that weather forecasts should include error bars.
The promise of hiking weather in the morning was broken, and it rained on and off throughout the day. We later learned that the park had also closed some trails due to the rain forecast. Even if we had decided to hike anyway, we would have been disappointed. In any case, after the first few rainfalls, we decided to buy groceries for our next breakfasts in the city, do laundry and relax on the patio reading and planning our next few days’ adventures.
We hope tomorrow won’t prove as treacherous as today. At least the weather forecast for tomorrow is, as it’s always been, sunny and 25ºC. What we hope will be perfect hiking weather.
In any case, we’ll spend the late afternoon and early evening drowning our troubles in lemon spritz (essentially Limoncello with Prosecco and, maybe, some sparkling water) until we have an early dinner at 20:00 (which is awfully early for Italian).
