Today is a cloudy and gray; somehow, it suites well the city with its large red and brown brick. Bruges is small as a city. There are canals, but despite having it described to us as the Venice of Belgium, it is nothing like Venice. I don't know who started that idea, but it's as true as Quebec City is the Paris of America because Quebec City has cobbled stone streets.










The good news is that there's chocolate everywhere! With a gray and cool day, it got Karine went on a shopping frenzy.
Little tip for us francophones: it's better to speak to people in English. When we speak in French, we come across as Belgians who don't want to speak Flemish (in the Flemish world, that's not appreciated). We speak in English, and everyone understands that we tourists.
