First stop of the day was a bird reserve where we got to meet some more Kiwis! These birds used to be plentiful on the island with a population in the many millions. Now there’s less than 100,000 of these flightless birds around. Meeting kiwis is a privilege and encouraging any enterprise that works at adding back kiwis in the world and preserving them is well worth our time and money.
Second stop of the day was a hike up Queenstown Hill. Offered us beautiful views of the city and the surrounding mountains and gave us a chance to workout some of the wine we’ve been drinking. Yesterday was overcast but today the sun came out and gave us a chance to take some very nice pictures of the area.
The sun sets at 21:32 today. It’s a big difference with when we came in to the north of New Zealand, where to sun sets a around 20:30. We’re having diner and it feels like it’s the middle of the afternoon.
