We spent the day driving and eating fruits. After getting up at a very early hour for vacationing people (9:30) we showered, packed the car and went for breakfast. We left Kelowna around 11:00, just after grabbing coffees for the road. We pointed the bow of our ship towards Vancouver’s Ferry Terminal and listened to a book until we got there.

We made it to Victoria just after sunset. Stopped for ramen then groceries and checked-in at our appartement.

I get the benefits of appartement rental instead of only doing hotels. The appartement stops gives us a place with its own laundry machine and its own kitchen. It offers a nice break if we want to breakfast or dine in a relaxed setting without depending on eating out all the time. The downside of it the check-in. It’s always a little finicky. In this case we had to go to a first address to find a lock box with the keys. Then go to a second address a 5-minute drive away to park the car and we had a third address for the apartment entrance. It took us a little while to figure it all out but we managed to settle in what will be our home for the next 4 days.

While the Rockies had glaciers, and the Okanagan and wines, Vancouver island boasts the biggest and oldest trees in the country. We are looking forward to meeting these giants!

Tomorrow: Exploring!
