Bastia is like all the small Mediterranean towns. There's the old port, the commercial port and typical architecture for both. Corsicans will say that everyone copied them, and the French will say their ancestors invented it. Still, in any case, it's striking how Bastia resembles a smaller, less wealthy version of Nice or Monaco.

Our day can be summarized as follows:

  • 20 minutes of walking to the port,
  • 4 hours on a boat,
  • 20 minutes looking for a taxi,
  • 10 minutes in a taxi, and
  • 1 hour on the train,

All that to go eat bisteca fiorentina at the Cipolla Rossa (our favourite bisteca restaurant in Florence).
